Bryony Mining Bee
A specialist bee that collects pollen exclusively from bryony (Bryonia species, Cucurbitaceae). Females have a black body with rusty-brown thoracic hair and narrow white abdominal bands, while males have a distinctive yellow face. It nests solitarily in the ground near its host plants. Both sexes sleep inside bryony flowers. Swiss Red List: Near Threatened (NT).
