Anthophora furcata

Forked Flower Bee

A medium-sized hairy bee (12–14 mm) that is unique among central European Anthophora for nesting in dead wood rather than in the ground. The female has brownish hair on the thorax and a black abdomen with a white tail brush. It shows a strong preference for Lamiaceae flowers, especially woundworts (Stachys), and flies from May to September in forests, forest edges, and orchards. Swiss Red List: Least Concern (LC).
