Golden-belted Bumblebee
A high-alpine bumblebee with a distinctive golden-yellow band across the thorax and a white tail, found above the treeline in the Alps. It has a circumpolar Arctic-alpine distribution. In Switzerland it occurs in alpine meadows and screes from about 1800 m to over 3000 m, foraging on a range of alpine flowers. It nests in abandoned rodent burrows or under rocks. Swiss Red List: Least Concern (LC).
