Halictus maculatus
Spotted Furrow Bee
A small metallic sweat bee with a dark green head and thorax and a black abdomen with interrupted white hair bands. It is a primitively eusocial species that nests in bare soil and is common in Swiss lowlands, visiting a wide range of wildflowers. Females excavate their nests in bare soil, often in sunny banks, paths, and ruderal areas, and the species is an important generalist pollinator in Swiss lowlands. Swiss Red List: Least Concern (LC).
