A small sweat bee (6–8 mm) with a metallic green head and thorax and a black abdomen with narrow white hair bands. Females have distinctly reddish-brown antennae (fulvicorne means red-horned) and pale yellowish-brown hind tibiae. It is a generalist forager visiting a wide range of wildflowers. It nests in self-excavated burrows in bare or sparsely vegetated sandy or loamy soils, often in small aggregations in warm, sunny locations. In Switzerland it is widespread from lowlands to montane elevations in dry meadows, vineyards, ruderal areas, and forest edges, flying from April to September. Swiss Red List: Least Concern (LC).
