Lasioglossum leucozonium
White-zoned Furrow Bee
A medium-sized sweat bee (8–10 mm) with a metallic blue-green head and thorax and a black abdomen with a distinctive broad white hair band on the first tergite, with narrower bands on subsequent segments. It is a solitary ground-nesting bee that excavates burrows in bare or sparsely vegetated sandy or loamy soils. In Switzerland it is widespread in warm, dry habitats from lowlands to montane elevations. Swiss Red List: Least Concern (LC).
