Banded Furrow Bee

A relatively large Lasioglossum (8–10 mm) with a metallic blue-green head and thorax and a black abdomen with broad, dense white hair bands that are notably wide on the first three tergites. It nests solitarily in self-dug burrows in bare soil and is a generalist forager with a preference for Asteraceae. In Switzerland it occurs in warm, dry lowland habitats, especially in the Valais, Ticino, and the Basel region. Swiss Red List: Least Concern (LC).
