Lasioglossum punctatissimum

Long-faced Furrow Bee

A very small sweat bee (5–6 mm) with a long, narrow face, a black non-metallic body, and densely punctate tergites. It is one of the smallest Lasioglossum species in Switzerland. It is bivoltine with two generations per year, flying from April to September. It nests in self-excavated burrows in sparsely vegetated soil, often in steep banks and loess walls. It is broadly polylectic, visiting flowers from Rosaceae, Asteraceae, and other families. In Switzerland it is widespread in vineyards, dry meadows, and ruderal areas in warm lowland regions. Swiss Red List: Least Concern (LC).
