Garden Bumblebee
A large bumblebee with an exceptionally long tongue, enabling it to visit deep tubular flowers such as dead-nettles, clovers, vetches, and foxgloves. It has a characteristic banding pattern of yellow on the thorax and abdomen with a white tail. It nests in old mouse burrows, bird nests, or underground cavities. In Switzerland it is common from lowland gardens to alpine meadows. Swiss Red List: Least Concern (LC).
