Margined Colletes

A small plasterer bee (7-9 mm) with a black body, narrow white abdominal hair bands, and a densely punctate first tergite. It is oligolectic on Fabaceae (legumes), particularly clovers and vetches. It nests solitarily or in small aggregations in sandy soils in warm, dry habitats. In Switzerland it is known from scattered localities in the lowlands and inner Alpine valleys, particularly in sandy ruderal areas and dry grasslands. Swiss Red List: Endangered (EN).
