Hylaeus angustatus
Narrow Yellow-face Bee
A small, slender masked bee (5–6 mm) with black body and white or yellow facial markings. Unlike most bees, it carries pollen internally in its crop instead of externally on its legs. It nests in hollow plant stems and beetle burrows in dead wood, lining its brood cells with a cellophane-like secretion. It is polylectic and visits a wide range of flowers from May to August. Swiss Red List: Near Threatened (NT).
