Hylaeus communis

Common Yellow-face Bee

The most common Hylaeus species in Central Europe, with a black body and white facial markings. Females have two small white spots on the face, while males have a large white mask. It nests in hollow stems and beetle burrows in dead wood, and is abundant in Swiss gardens, parks, and ruderal areas. Swiss Red List: Least Concern (LC).
