Hylaeus difformis
Variable Yellow-face Bee
A slender, mostly black masked bee (6–7 mm) with characteristic white facial markings. Like all Hylaeus, it transports pollen in its crop and nests in pre-existing cavities such as hollow stems and beetle holes. It is polylectic and has a flight period from June to September, visiting a variety of wildflowers. It occurs in Switzerland in warm lowland areas. Swiss Red List: Least Concern (LC).
