Hylaeus hyalinatus
Translucent Yellow-face Bee
A small yellow-face bee with black body and white facial markings, notably with the apical margins of the abdominal tergites appearing translucent reddish-brown. It nests in hollow stems and cavities in dead wood and is widespread in Switzerland in gardens, meadows, and ruderal areas, favouring warmer sites. A generalist forager visiting flowers from many plant families, it is common in settlements and agricultural landscapes. Flight period from May to September. Swiss Red List: Least Concern (LC).
